If you are a full-time or part-time faculty member at Fanshawe College, you are covered by the federal Academic Employees Collective Agreement (CA). It is a legally binding contract: it defines the rights and obligations you have as a member of the bargaining unit, as well as the rights and obligations of your employer. Planning for a symposium on shared governance in 2020 is underway. Ontario colleges. Sheridan applied for the status of university/polytechnique, which would stand out in Canada`s post-secondary sector as the only system without some form of common governance.

This increasingly strengthens a corporate structure of financial priorities and leaves no voice to the faculty`s experts. After participation in university leadership has gained academic freedom and the right to speak of all issues of academic quality and concern during the last round of negotiations, participation in university leadership is the next fundamental exercise of this academic freedom. This symposium will examine issues of common governance in the context of colleges: shared governance models, results-based programs, codes of conduct, loyalty obligations, confidentiality versus transparency, among other topics. You will find detailed information about your group benefits in this brochure or contact us if you have any questions or concerns. On April 15, members of OPSEU and DivEx met with arbitrator William Kaplan to raise interim objections to the 148 letter of agreement. Optional life insurance, medical, dental and paraprofessional benefits are part of a package of remuneration negotiated by OPSEU for all final year faculties and their members under the Academic Pay Equity plan, and we strongly recommend that you benefit from these benefits, particularly extended health care whose premiums are paid entirely by the university during the employment contract periods. The benefit levels are the same as for full-time faculties for all insurance plans. Partial load faculties are assessed in terms of training and experience to determine their starting salary.

The job classification plans at the end of the collective agreement define the factors for assessing your qualifications and calculating your first placement. Colleges are required to allow UNION residents to take the first step for partial load staff so that your local resident can check your internship with you. If you have any doubts, please contact us by notice. The faculty of partial charges should pay particular attention to section 26. We have also prepared a FAQ.
