As the nature of public sector employment in British Columbia has changed in recent decades, the number of BCGEU members working directly for the government has decreased, while the number of BCGEU members doing provincial government or private sector work has increased. The BCGEU is now the largest union that organizes casino employees in the province and negotiates strong collective agreements.
